As Chattanooga is a strategic hub to the region's prolific trout and bass waters, the guide staff at Choo Choo Fly & Tackle is able to offer quality, day fishing excursions.  Local tailwater and free-stone trout fisheries allow for traditional walk-wade and Western-style drift boat trips.  Local reservoir sections of the Tennessee River allow for popular, bass boat fishing trips.  No matter the skill level, our trips provide clients the opportunity to grow as anglers and fish as hard as they want as our guides take pleasure in patiently sharing their time and knowledge.

Our guides are the heart and soul of Choo Choo Fly & Tackle. For that reason, we take seriously the process in which they become credible and professional. We require apprenticeship, training, and certification of all no matter their angling or guiding background. The foundation of our guide staff is the desire to teach and share the memorable experience of quality fishing.

Local Guided Trout Fishing

Choo Choo Fly & Tackle utilizes the area's bountiful public and natural trout fishery resources for our anglers as we strongly believe in the quality our local waters.  Our trout guide trips are especially original as we teach novices how to fly fish and enhance the skills of the experienced all the while on waters where the fishing is naturally challenging and most rewarding.  

  • We guide walk-wade and float trips on the public waters of the Elk, Toccoa, and Hiwassee Rivers for rainbow and brown trout year-round.  These are offered as fly fishing only, and we promote catch-and-release.  Within 55 to 75 minute drive.

Local Guided Bass Fishing

The Tennessee River around Chattanooga has some of the best bass fishing in the country.  At Choo Choo Fly and Tackle, we fish using fly fishing or conventional gear. Whether stripping deer-hair flies in the early summer for largemouth or slow-rolling heavy spinner baits in the fall for smallmouth, our boats can bass fish year-round.  We also offer fishing for crappie, brim, and shellcrackers during their spawning and nesting times.  

  • We guide boat trips on the public waters of the Chickamauga, Nickajack, and Guntersville sections of the Tennessee River for largemouth, smallmouth, and Kentucky-spotted bass.  These are offered as fly and conventional fishing trips, and we promote catch-and-release.  Within 5 to 45 minute drive.

  • We also offer fly or conventional fishing trips on our exclusive, private water of Tennessee RiverGardens for largemouth bass and nesting brim & shellcrackers.  Within 10 minute drive.

Private Kids Fishing Parties

Kids fishing parties are great for birthdays and special events. They allow kids to get outside and enjoying the sport of fishing. These parties are held on private property, and fishing gear is provided if needed.  We encourage parents to participate and to bring food & beverages if needed. Our guide staff ensures the children have an enjoyable time and a great fishing experience.  Fly or conventional gear is available.

Corporate Group Fishing Events

After successfully entertaining mid to large size corporate groups for years, we have the experience necessary to provide your party a safe, productive, and memorable outing.  Choo Choo Fly & Tackle offers several, exclusive venue options on private or public water in which to execute different types of corporate fishing outings.  Fly or conventional gear is available.
