Local Bass Fishing

The Tennessee River is one of the South’s greatest and most productive fisheries, especially for bass.  Each of the three local reservoir sections of Chickamauga, Nickajack, and Guntersville offer some of the best largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass fishing in the country. From the faster flowing water at the tailraces to the lake-like water in lower stretches, there is tremendous variety.  An abundance of other species exist such as striped bass, hybrid bass, white bass, crappie, sunfish, and catfish providing a plethora of angling opportunities.  With many public TVA boat ramps as access, the river is safe to float year-round under normal conditions... about 5 to 35 minute drive from Chattanooga.

Local Trout Fishing

The Elk, Hiwassee, and lower Toccoa Rivers are our local tailwaters offering quality brown & rainbow fishing.  These rivers maintain adequate numbers of fish and brown trout are able to get very large.  With public access, these rivers are generally wadeable at no generation… about 55 minute to 1 hour 25 minute drive from Chattanooga.  The Tellico and upper Toccoa Rivers are our local freestones being primarily brown and rainbow fisheries.  Both offer quality fishing due to their delayed harvest sections and have ample numbers of fish.  With public access, they are generally wadeable at normal flows… about 1 hour 30 minute drive from Chattanooga.
