Choo Choo Fly and Tackle Guide School
Being the only one of its kind in the South, Choo Choo Fly & Tackle is excited to announce its first-ever fishing guide school. Learn the basics of how to guide professionally fly or conventional fishing trips in a six-day course of training, apprenticeship, certification, classroom study & demonstration, and intensive fishing. We will share wade-fishing and float fishing techniques as well as the basics of handling a drift and outboard-powered boat. You will complete your CPR & First Aid training and also learn how to professionally handle yourself and the fishing with clients. You will spend time fishing our local waters for trout and bass while learning from seasoned guides the secrets of how to put anglers on fish. Fly tying will be demonstrated, conventional bait & lure rigging techniques will be shared, casting instruction will be highlighted, important knots will be taught, and fishing skills will be enhanced. This school will give you the skills necessary to start your full or part time career as a fishing guide earning money while enjoying your passion of fishing. Choo Choo Fly & Tackle’s guide program has the experience and proven track record of training and apprenticing some of the best fishing guides to have ever come out of the local area. Many of the shop’s former guides have taken guiding positions at the most highly respected outfitters in the country. 6 days long and must have own gear & license to participate. For participants from out-of-town, accommodations can be arranged and are not included in course cost. Lunches & drinks each day are included as well as a fly assortment for our local fishing with leaders & tippets is included. Also included is a logoed “goody bag.” Participants are welcome to bring own boats if they like, but need to discuss with instructors. Reservation required.
